Frequently Asked Questions

How does EduCompass help me choose where to study?

We offer two paths: if you already know your destination and field, our Traditional Path lets you browse programs by country, level, and stream. If you're unsure, our Career-First Path shows you high-demand careers globally, then recommends the right degree and university based on your profile.

Is EduCompass free to use?

Yes, completely free. We source data from official government education portals and do not charge students for access. Our mission is to democratize study abroad guidance for students across Asia.

Which countries are covered?

We cover 33 destination countries including USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Netherlands, Ireland, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, and many more. For finance options, we support students from India, China, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Bangladesh.

How accurate is the data?

Our data comes from 30+ official sources including EducationUSA, British Council, Study Australia, DAAD, Campus France, and government visa portals. We run regular crawls to keep fees, visa costs, and scholarship info up to date. Each data point is tracked with provenance back to its source.

Can I get education loans for studying abroad?

Yes! We list 67+ finance options across 11 countries including government schemes (like India's Vidya Lakshmi, Japan's JASSO, Korea's KOSAF), bank loans, international lenders (Prodigy Finance, MPOWER), and destination scholarships (Chevening, DAAD, Erasmus). Use our Finance page to filter by your home country.

Do I need IELTS/TOEFL for all countries?

Not all. English-taught programs in non-English countries (Germany, Netherlands, etc.) typically require IELTS/TOEFL. Some countries accept PTE or Duolingo. Programs taught in local languages may require different tests (like TestDaF for Germany). Check our Tests page for details.

How does country auto-detection work?

We use your IP address to detect your approximate location and auto-personalize finance options and recommendations. You can change your country anytime using the selector in the navigation bar. Your preference is saved locally on your device.
